Smart energy solutions company Ignites will supply electricity generated by its wind farm in Mažeikiai to Akmenes Cementas , Lithuania. Akmenes Cementas to import SRF to replace coal

Lithuania-based Akmenes Cementas plans to import up to 200,000t of solid recovered fuel (SRF) each year, replacing its use of coal. According to the Baltic Business Daily, the company currently uses around 130,000t of coal each year. By 2024 SRF will replace 75 per cent of the coal, rising to 90 per cent by the end of 2027. Akmenes Cementas , Lithuania’s only cement producer, plans to import up to 200,000t of solid recovered fuel (SRF) for use in the second half of 2023. Lithuania’s Akmenes Cementas saw an 18.9 per cent rise in revenue to EUR67.3m in 2018, compared to EUR56.6m in the previous year. Akmenes Cementas last year saw its net losses soar to EUR4.864m, more than a five-fold increase from EUR902,400 in 2014. Akmenes Cementas, Lithuania’s only cement manufacturer, last year saw its audited net profit fall by 36.3 per cent to LTL11.676m (EUR 3.38m), from LTL18.329m in 2012.
